The ES was looking for a way to tie in their online operations (thisislondon and thisismoney) and promote the newspaper itself.

Solution
- consult on the appropriate ways to address these challenges, before launching into the production of this CD ROM
- integrate London information and sponsorship from Tesco, NatWest, Jungle.com, Lacoste, BlueSquare etc and many others
- build CD Rom to be cover-mounted on the Evening Standard
- create a screensaver to react to the time of day, bringing the user a random selection of animated characters each sponsored by a different company
- make them interact on screen with interactive ads and web links to display
- link screensaver to interactive information about London's restaurants, bars, clubs, theatre, cinema, news etc
- allow direct linking to online booking and the thisislondon.co.uk website.
- make screensaver update itself automatically from the internet

Outcome
500,000 CDs were cover-mounted on the Evening Standard. That day there was a dramatic rise in paper sales and longer term rises in the web traffic to the websites of the disc sponsors.
